Curved Superwidescreen in Germany

March 2010. Off to Europe again for the third time so far this year. This time the team load the trucks full of kit to impress the Germans. It was the worldwide debut of our new curved superwidescreen projection technology. With a twist it allows us to project on the round, at any radius, without distortion to the content. Concave or convex is possible on a single axis as shown here or onto x-y axis as shown in the Dynamic Earth projection tests in our other news.

4x Christie HD18K projectors were blended seamlessly to generate this impressive 14m x 4m canvas along with hot backup. Driven by a Spyder 359 we were able to send 4 outputs to our projectors and twist the content to fit the canvas. 2 outputs for the 16:9 confidence monitors and a single output for operator preview. All inputs and outputs to the Spyder were digital from HD input source to super wide super hi-def pixel mapped fiber channer digital output. The content was beautifully crafted in our studio and subtly digitally animated ready for live playback at the event from our SHD media server.

The end result was amazing and our client feedback – “Thanks to your team our event was a completely flawless success. You have helped us deliver the  best technical production ever and we definitely will be in touch for our next event. Your tech is amazing and your staff knowledgeable, friendly and always smiling.”

Well done team Tapestry…
