Tartan Day Scotland 2009

TapestryAV was appointed preferred supplier to Angus Council for 5th successive year for which they required full audio visual & technical support and design services. Tartan Day Scotland is an annual celebration of the best of Scotland. There are four events running throughout the week ending in a glittering gala dinner.

The main brief from the client was to deliver a flexible stage set which reflected the branding of the event and desgin of a stage set which was versatile enough to be used on all four events. The venue is the Augusta Suite, Carnoustie Golf Hotel. TapestryAV offered 3 options for Tartan day, and provided full breakdowns of the proposed equipment including options and visuals of varying complexity and design.

Scottish Evening, 6th April 2009 – With the stage set in place (big enough for a ceileidh band) & subtle mood lighting & dancefloor for the scottish dancers and a a generous sound system the evening went with a great swing.

Business Lunch Debate, 7th April – Our brief was very specific and demanded that all tartan day branding must continue through all stage furniture. Purple coloured chairs were designed to match perfectly with the stage set and custom carpeting for the panel of 3. A customised acrylic coffee table was commissioned for the question time debate.

Gala Dinner, 7th April – This was a black tie celebration event with a mix of keynote speakers and entertainment. Guests attending were politicians, journalists, businesses, entertainment and sports people. The crew supervised and operated full sound & lighting checks, run through of title slides and video, M C sound check, photocall on stage, rehearsal welcome speeches and glittering gala dinner. Tartan day colours of pink, lilac and turquoise were used to light up the outside of the hotel which enhanced this celebratory Scottish event.

Prize Giving Golf Dinner - In many ways similar to the gala dinner albeit slightly less formal, full technical support and band PA system with table pin spotting & gentle mood lighting followed by Golf Prizegiving Awards.

The end result? A glittering, celebratory and outstanding Scottish event.
